Privacy policy
We're getting ready to open. The Googoo Bakehouse trailer isn't trading yet, and Square pre-orders will open at launch. Until then, this page explains how ordering, pickup and your information will work once we open.
Who we are
Googoo Bakehouse is a bakery trailer in Sydney’s Hills District, operated by Chui Corporation Pty Ltd (ABN 76 649 691 047) (“we”, “us”). This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect through this website, our Square online ordering and point-of-sale, and when you contact us, and what we do with it.
We aim to follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, even where a small business like ours may not be strictly required to.
This website
This website does not ask you for personal information. There are no forms, newsletter sign-ups or accounts here, we don’t set our own cookies, and we don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Fonts are hosted on our own domain, so no font service sees your visit.
Hosting. The site is hosted by Netlify. Like most web hosts, Netlify automatically keeps basic technical logs when a page loads (for example IP address, browser type, page requested and time) to run and protect the service. We don’t use these logs to identify you.
Map (only if you choose to load it). The “Find the trailer” panel can show a Google map of our next spot, but only after you click the button to load it. Your browser then connects to Google, which may receive technical information such as your IP address under Google’s own privacy policy. The “Get directions” link opens Google Maps in a new tab.
Ordering and paying through Square
We use Square for online orders (googoo-bakehouse.square.site), payments and our point-of-sale at the trailer. When you order or pay, Square collects, and shares with us, information such as:
- your name, email address and/or phone number;
- what you ordered, the amount paid, and your pickup date, time and location;
- any notes you add to your order (for example a dietary or allergy note).
Card details are handled by Square, not by us. Square processes card payments under its own security standards and privacy policy. We don’t see or store your full card number.
Square may also collect information for its own purposes (for example fraud prevention, or if you create a Square account) under Square’s privacy notice.
When you contact us
If you email us, message us on Instagram, or talk to us at the trailer, we’ll receive whatever details you share, such as your name, contact details and your question.
How we use your information
- to prepare, confirm and hand over your order, and contact you about it (for example a change to pickup time or location);
- to process cancellations, refunds and any problem with your order;
- to answer your questions and feedback;
- to keep business, tax and GST records that the law requires.
If you tell us about an allergy or dietary need, we use it only to help with your order. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it except with the service providers that help us run the business (such as Square, Netlify and our email provider), or where the law requires.
Marketing
We only send you marketing emails or messages if you have agreed to receive them (for example by ticking a box when ordering). Every marketing message will tell you who it’s from and include an easy way to unsubscribe, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Order confirmations and messages about your order are not marketing.
Information stored overseas
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia. For example, Netlify, Google, Square and Meta (Instagram) may use servers in the United States and other countries. We choose established providers that have their own privacy and security protections.
Keeping it safe, and for how long
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including using reputable providers and limiting who can access our accounts. We keep order and payment records for as long as tax law requires (generally five years), and other information only as long as we need it. After that we delete it or ask our providers to.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@googoo.sydney. We’ll reply within 30 days.
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, email us first and we’ll try to fix it. If you’re not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Children
We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children through this website.
